Annual Gala will Benefit Seafarers' House at Port Everglades

Plans are underway for the 2010 International Golden Compass Award Dinner. The annual black tie gala will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 Resort in Fort Lauderdale and will feature a lively evening of dining and dancing with both silent and live auctions.

Benefiting the mission of Seafarers' House at Port Everglades, the annual celebration honors the work of individuals who have achieved distinction in the maritime world, those whose avocation or vocation has been the sea or those who have ministered to or otherwise assisted seafarers. This annual award dinner and gala is a premier social event for the South Florida business and maritime community.

The event this year honors Mr. Adam M. Goldstein, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. The event is chaired by Mr. Michael Hopkins of Crowley Liner Services teamed with Auction Committee Chair Ms. Maureen Orts of Holland America. Bill Panoff Publisher of Porthole Magazine is returning as the live auctioneer. Sixth Star Enterainment will add their special brand of sparkle to an evening of fun and celebration.

Adam Goldstein was named President of Royal Caribbean International in February 2005 and in September 2007 expanded his role to include CEO. Goldstein oversees fleet operations, sales and marketing, brand development, supply chain management, government & community relations and Royal Celebrity Tours. Prior to his appointment, Goldstein served as Royal Caribbean's Executive Vice President, Brand Operations, with similar responsibilities, from 2002 - 2005.

Goldstein has been with the company since 1988. Prior to 2002 he held the positions of Senior Vice President, Total Guest Satisfaction; Senior Vice President, Marketing; Vice President, Marketing; Vice President, International Sales and Marketing; Director, Market Development; and Corporate Secretary to Royal Caribbean's Board of Directors.

Goldstein serves on the Board of Trustees of Our Kids, Inc., a nonprofit with oversight responsibility for foster care and related services for approximately 4,000 children in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. He is also a member of the Energy Security Leadership Council, a group of leading CEO's and retired top military leaders dedicated to spurring a comprehensive solution to the energy security of the US. Goldstein also serves on the Board of Directors of the US Travel association (formerly known as the Travel Industry Association of America) and was the national chair in 2001.

In 1998, Advertising Age named Goldstein to the "Marketing 100," the magazine's annual roundup of the best and brightest American and international marketing minds.

Goldstein graduated with honors from Princeton University, majoring in public policy at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. He also has a law degree from Harvard and an MBA with distinction from INSEAD, the European business school in Fontainebleau, France. Goldstein and his wife, Cheryl, have two children and live in Miami-Dade County, Fla.

Royal Caribbean International is a long-term supporter of Seafarers' House in Port Everglades which offers practical welfare services, counseling and support for the crew members that arrive daily in the port.
