John Griffin joins Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ Executive Committee in the new role of Senior Vice President Brand & Marketing May 3, 2010. He succeeds Steven Nikolov, Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing, and will be responsible for Marketing, Communication, Distribution and Corporate Sales. The Senior Vice President Brand & Marketing reports directly to Jean Gabriel Pérès, CEO & President.
John Griffin brings an in-depth experience in all aspects of marketing, branding and communication from hospitality, spa and financial services. Most recently he comes from Bangkok, where he was Vice President Marketing of Minor International, the operator of Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas. He has also been Vice President Worldwide Marketing & Director of Loyalty Programs of Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts. Mr. Griffin was 16 years with American Express International Inc. Australia & New Zealand, latest as Director of Advertising & Credit Products. John Griffin, who is Australian, has a graduate diploma in Marketing Management from the Macquarie University in Sydney.
Following Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ reorientation from a centralised to a de-centralised structure and subsequent changes in the position’s profile, Mr Nikolov and Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ management have mutually and amicably agreed to part company. Steven Nikolov has held a successful career with the company as Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing since 2000, and previously as Corporate Director Sales & Marketing as from 1991 to 1995. Mr Nikolov has been a great ambassador for the brand and has contributed significantly in shaping the company to what it is today.
