• The company presents its latest luxury openings at the Tourism Trade Fair in Madrid: Gran Meliá Crete and Gran Meliá Roma
The largest resort hotel company in the world, Sol Meliá Hotels & Resorts, has presented its growth plans at FITUR, in the context of the global crisis, and its new five star hotel, the Gran Meliá Shanghai. The Vice Chairman and CEO, Gabriel Escarrer, were accompanied by the company’s executive directors and project architect, Álvaro Sans.
The superior luxury of the Gran Meliá brand has been transported to the city of Shanghai and the hotel will officially open on 3 February.
As for the plans for growth in 2010 – for which the company foresees the opening of a new hotel every four weeks - Sol Meliá has also presented its two latest major openings: two hotels under the luxury Gran Meliá brand in Crete and Rome.
Located on the coast of Daios Cove, Gran Meliá Crete is a complex of villas and swimming pools, all perfectly integrated with the surrounding environment, looking out over the Aegean Sea. It provides 300 rooms designed by the prestigious firm 3SK Stylianidis as well as a wide range of bars and restaurants, a spacious spa and 13 elegant meeting rooms.
The Gran Meliá Rome, next to the River Tiber and very close to Sant Angelo castle, is located in an old 16th century palace. The superb renovation has converted it into a five star hotel providing 116 rooms, convention centre and the brand’s luxurious services.
After the press conference, the Torres brothers, chefs at the magnificent Dos Cielos restaurant at the ME Barcelona Hotel, served designer cocktails to the guests, impressing everyone with their innovative culinary skills.
