The “Salon Louis XV” turned out to be almost too small for the number of participants who attended this year’s forum at the Ritz on 10 December. The Paris-Hôtel & Spa certainly lived up to its reputation as a must-attend venue for networking and exchange in the hotel and spa sector!

A panel of renowned international speakers shared their expertise in architecture and the many facets of spa management with an attentive audience of professionals from all over Europe.

Other high spots were the exceptional contacts made between partners and participants throughout the day. Cards were exchanged, joint projects planned, management methods compared. Once again, the Paris-Hotspa networking spirit came to the fore, putting an end to the isolation often felt by hotel professionals.

The rich and rewarding programme culminated with the Best Spa Manager award. The Black Diamond 2009 was won by Hans-Peter Veit, spa manager of the Brenners Park Hotel in Baden Baden (Germany), after a close-run contest between finalists from six different countries. The jury had a hard task choosing between a range of exceptional candidates: Philippa Batalha, Ritz Four Seasons Lisbon (Portugal), Liz Dicker, Sequoia at the Grove, Chandler’s Cross (United Kingdom), Michaela Hoesch, Balance Resort, Stegersbach (Austria), Minnie Romano, Adler Thermae, San Guirico d’Orcia (Italy) and Katia Schaffhauser , Spa Imperial de l’hôtel du Palais, Biarritz (France).

The day was such a success that next year’s event has already been scheduled for the end of June!

Paris-HOTelSPA, the new key event for Spa professionals, was launched in 2008 to address luxury hotel market issues, by Vladi Kovanic, co-founder of Millenium Organisation and Aquallia (international forums and trade fairs, and Thierry Julien Dréano.

Last year, in just one evening, the first edition of this event dedicated to hotel spa professionals proved its worth as a key qualitative and original networking tool. By popular demand, this year was even bigger and better, lasting a full day, with a lunch/debate and cocktail served in the prestigious surroundings of the Ritz.

2009 partners: ADN Informatique, Aura Chake, Danièle de Winter, Clarins, RKF Luxury Linen, Thermarium, SPA Soft, Vital Centre, Iyashi Dome, Laboratoire B.L.C., Thalgo Cosmetic, Terraké, proguidespa.com, Verre et Quartz, Emotion Spa, Biologique recherche, Eduard &Co, Spa Finders, Toskana World.
