Podium-worthy Potions
You can't buy an Olympic medal — they're awarded only to those who fly high, move with lightning speed and know how to score when the pressure's on. When it comes to being a winner, there's only one route to the top: work, work and more work. That is, unless you stop by Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver.
YEW restaurant + bar, the hip meeting spot destined to become Olympic Central when Vancouver welcomes the world, has created three unique cocktails to celebrate Canada's Olympic-hosting history. They all look so mouthwateringly delicious, we think mixologists Justin Taylor and Jordan Moore deserve a medal.
The Bronze reaches back into the archives to honour the flavours of Montréal, host city for the 1976 Games. This dessert-like drink blends Canadian rye whiskey that's been infused with Québec maple sugar and has a Granny Smith apple and bruleé crust.
The Silver martini evokes a stampede back in time to the 1988 Calgary Olympics, with buffalo jerky-infused vodka, homemade tomato juice, chili pepper and horseradish.
Fast-forward to 2010: The Gold cocktail champions the tastes of Canada's west coast with gin from Victoria, British Columbia, that's been infused with dill, cucumber and fresh citrus, and is topped with a candied smoked salmon garnish.
Think these drinks could quench your thirst for victory? Let the Games begin at YEW restaurant + bar.
