The Rezidor Hotel Group ranks highest on the HVS 2008 European Corporate Governance Report, leaving behind 20 other publicly listed hotel companies in Europe, which were reviewed by HVS, a global leading executive search and consultancy agency. Based on information available in the public domain and provided through interviews, the hotel companies were scored on their performance in four key categories: Size, makeup and independence of the Board; Committee structure and effectiveness; Presence of interlocks and related transactions; and Commitment to pay-for-performance for executive and director pay.
“In 2007, the HVS Corporate Governance report ranked Rezidor at Number 2. A year later, we are glad and proud to have taken the top position”, says Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor. “Our Corporate Governance structure is designed to protect the best interests of our stakeholders, shareholders and employees; as well as to maintain a transparent dialogue – this is in tough economic times more important than ever. This survey’s results confirm that our strategies are effective and result-driven”, continues Ritter.
Rezidor’s overall score in the 2008 HVS Corporate Governance Report was 86%. The company scored 100% in the categories “Interlocks & insider participation” and “Pay for performance”. Rezidor was followed by the InterContinental Hotel Group (85%) at Number 2, and Whitbread and Accor (both 84%) at Number 3 position.
