DJ Gotardo Dorado Creates a Unique Musical Journey That Restores, Rebalances and Renews

Devoted to transforming ordinary travel into an all-encompassing, sensorial experience for the mind, body and soul, Live Aqua Cancun utilizes the musical expertise of DJ Gotardo Dorado to enchant eardrums and to define the spirit that is Live Aqua. With stylized playlists, custom tailored for various parts of the hotel, Dorado's music heightens mood and matches the ambiance of each individual area, from the resort’s spa and gym to its beach and pools. In addition to customizing each playlist to enhance the space’s unique purpose and design, DJ Dorado is also able to adapt his musical stylings to reflect the time of day.

As a member of the creative team at Live Aqua Cancun and the only resident DJ at any hotel in the entire Yucatan Peninsula, Dorado utilizes his 20 years of experience and more than 40,000 tracks to tailor music to specific locations while arousing a series of sensory-based experiences that guests can encounter throughout their stay. These experiences synchronize with one another, continuously creating surreal moments and sensations: music whispering to the ears as the unique vistas of the Caribbean Sea supply dazzling visuals and tantalizing creations delight taste buds.

Dorado’s music changes in every corner of the hotel and throughout the day. Walking into the lobby resembles arriving to a temple with awe-inspiring music that creates a warm and welcoming environment for guests. Poolside sounds, meanwhile, portray a sense of inspiration before 10 a.m., transition to a chill beach house theme during the day and then return to inspiring accompaniment by the late afternoon.

The gym and Spa Aqua have uniquely contrasting tones to match the function of each space. For motivation and intensity, a blend of house and trance music permeates the fitness center. For deep relaxation and serenity at the spa, peaceful music and sounds of nature vary by treatment.

Each Live Aqua restaurant and bar has its own distinct music that is carefully crafted to match its unique personality. As a contemporary Mexican restaurant, Siete plays soft Latino pop as well as the latest independent music from Latin America in the morning. In the evening, the musical accompaniment changes to light Hispanic American artists such as Lila Downs, Magos Herrera and Susana Harp as well as artists that sing in local dialects such as Claudia Martínez. Danzon and Mariachi, creators of new contemporary Mexican music, can also be heard as well as other national rhythms such as Los Pirecuas, music from Michoacan (Mexican state), and the Marimba Nundayapa, which combines Chiapaneco folklore with the classical version of the marimba and jazz. MB, the resort's cosmopolitan, New York-style restaurant by Chef Michelle Bernstein, plays its own kind of music to match Bernstein’s cuisine. A fusion of acid jazz, electronic music and soulful house permeates throughout the dining room. Chef Franco Madalozzo's Azur, meanwhile, features a blend of Mediterranean music and pop musicalities that float on the sea breeze of this open-air restaurant.

The AKA Wine & Mezcal Bar, featuring the region's most extensive collection of wine, tequilas and mezcals, plays "world beat" music, focusing on the diverse rhythms of wine- and tequila-producing countries. Music from coffee-producing countries plays in the nearby, cozy coffee nook. At the resort's South Beach-inspired bar, EGOS, seductive, electric and eclectic guests dance until dawn to the rhythmic pulses of a variety of high-energy house, trance and psychedelic trance music.
