Party Like It's 1927

Ever since Lucy and Ethel gleefully danced in a vat of grapes, we've been lining up to make our own wine. Showing up as hostess gifts or wedding favours, some bottles are delicious while others should come with a side of painkillers.

So when Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore wanted to celebrate its long history on Santa Barbara's beachfront, we decided to leave the winemaking to the experts — but that doesn't mean we didn't put our own "stamp" on it.

For the last 10 years, a group of the Resort's culinary experts — including the Executive Chef, Sommelier and Director of Food & Beverage — have been making an annual pilgrimage to Sunstone Winery, one of the region's largest organic vineyards. There, led by a master winemaker, they spend hours valiantly swirling, sniffing and sampling to create just the right mix of Syrah, Mourverde and Viognier grapes. It's hard work, but somebody's got to taste it!

The result? About 100 cases of Nineteen Twenty-Seven, so named for the year the Spanish Colonial-style Resort opened. Bottles of the balanced, Syrah-based blend are featured on the Resort's menus and are also available for purchase as a sip-worthy souvenir of your visit.
