The Michelin two-star Shang Palace restaurant at Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong will stage The 8th Estate Winery wine dinner on 16 October 2009. Guests can take advantage of this opportunity to be one of the first to savour a gourmet dinner with the first vintages, red and white wines, from Hong Kong’s first winery, The 8th Estate Winery.

Priced at only HK$888 per person, a wine tasting will be held at Tapas Bar from 6 to 7:30 p.m., followed by the wine dinner in Shang Palace at 8 p.m. The feast will begin with an aperitif, Fume Blanc, followed by Golden Fried Fresh Crab Claws complemented with Sauvignon Blanc and Sautéed Sliced Fresh Rabbit Fish with Tangerine Peel and Garden Greens, which will be matched with Gewürztraminer. The Braised Sliced Abalone Fish Maw and Chicken Broth will be accompanied with Heritage and the Poached Australia Wagyu Beef served with Lime Soya Sauce will be matched with Merlot. The Stewed Mutton with Black Mushrooms, Bamboo Shoots and Chilli Bean Curd Sauce will be complemented with Shiraz and followed by Deep Fried Wings filled with Glutinous Rice. To provide guests with a sweet finish, the Baked Sago Pudding with Lotus Seed Cream will be matched with Affair and the Chilled Osmanthus with Wolfberries and Bird’s Nest Jelly will be paired with Passion.

Guests will also have a chance to experience "The New Age of Wine Making” process, presented by the winery director. The price is subject to a 10 per cent service charge. For reservations, please call (852) 2733 8754.

Lavishly decorated in auspicious red and gold with traditional motifs imported from China, Shang Palace offers a range of dim sum, set lunch and à la carte menus for lunch from noon until 3 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Offering a range of set dinner and à la carte menus to tempt the discerning palate, it opens daily for dinner from 6:30 to 11 p.m.
