Eternal Flame
It's here: the moment you've been training for. You see the glow approaching slowly as a heroic anthem swells (at least in your mind). With all eyes turned your way, you seize the torch, blow out the flame and take a sip. Mmm — now those are some winning Olympic spirits!
In honour of the lighting of Canada's Olympic torch in Athens on October 22, Four Seasons Resort Whistler has created the 2010 Torch Cocktail — a deliciously athletic mix of pear purée, juice-based energy drink and lemongrass-infused vodka.
Sounds medal-worthy, doesn't it? But what really takes this drink to the top of the podium is the fire. A brown sugar cube sits atop the potion, perched on an inverted cocktail shaker lid. It's then soaked in absinthe and ignited, giving the crowd what they came for. To add to the cocktail's triumphant tone, it's served in a tall copper-hued glass flute and presented in a passing-of-the-torch relay fashion. Being a torchbearer never tasted so good.
Ready to quench the flames of your thirst? Visit Four Seasons Resort Whistler's Fifty Two 80 Bar and do your part for Canada's torch relay.
