The opening of the exclusive Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona late this year will add an exciting range of restaurant and bar venues to the Catalan capital’s gourmet circuit.

The hotel’s two main restaurants will include the relaxed Blanc restaurant and lounge, and the hotel’s signature restaurant Moments, led by the award-winning chef Carme Ruscalleda.

Both restaurants will feature original, natural and creative cuisine, delighting customers with a healthy and varied choice. From light salads and Asian inspired dishes at Blanc, to the authentic and traditional Catalan flavours and creations at Moments.

Destined to become a meeting point for local residents and guests alike, Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona will also house the elegant Banker’s Bar featuring an innovative interior design and a cocktail menu with over fifty items. While the Mimosa Terrace, a tranquil interior patio, will be the venue of choice for relaxed meetings with friends.

Moments: Michelin starred Catalan cuisine
Renowned Chef Carme Ruscalleda, winner of five Michelin stars, has been appointed Director of the hotel’s signature restaurant Moments. The kitchen at Moments will be headed by Chef Raül Balam, Carme Ruscalleda’s son, who has been working with the prestigious chef for many years. The restaurant will feature Ruscalleda’s trademark Catalan cuisine, with seasonal produce taking centre stage.

Located on the hotel’s mezzanine floor, Moments will have seating for 50 diners, together with a private dining room for up to 10 guests. The classicism of the cuisine will be in marked contrast to the avant-garde, contemporary décor, created by Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola, designer for all of Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona’s interiors.

Blanc: Quality dining in a casual atmosphere
Blanc restaurant and lounge will provide the ideal backdrop for the healthy and relaxed cooking style of Peter Zampaglione, the hotel’s Executive Chef. Fresh seasonal produce will form the basis of the dishes which will feature contemporary Asian cuisine plus local specialties from regions of Spain.

Diners will be able to enjoy a range of authentic dishes from Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand. Asian favourites such as Phad Thai, Dim Sum, Yakitoris and the Japanese inspired Bento Box, will all be carefully prepared using traditional cooking techniques.

The dessert menu will be especially imaginative, with Catalan, Asian and French influences. Most of the produce including organic jams, biscuits and yogurts will be home-made.

In addition, both restaurants will have access to a select wine cellar, showcasing over 500 wines from around the world.

Banker’s Bar: cocktails with a twist
The Banker’s Bar at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona will pay homage to the history of the building, which originally housed one of the city’s largest 20th century banks. The design will incorporate the original safes from the bank’s vault as part of the décor, creating an interesting and evocative atmosphere in which to enjoy classic cocktails. Dry Martinis and Manhattans, together with new combinations specially created for the bar, such as Ginger Margaritas, Pear and Sake Martinis, and Lychee or Orchid Caipirinhas will all be available, and accompanied by an innovative designer snack menu created by Carme Ruscalleda.

Mimosa: An oasis in the city
Mimosa will be Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona's very own city oasis. This lush, green 660 square metre terrace, located within the hotel’s interior, has been jointly designed by Patricia Urquiola and landscape designer Beth Figueras.

Asian tapas, fresh seafood, grilled fish, salads, pasta and sandwiches will combine to make up a refreshing light menu, ideal for the warm local climate. Guests will also be able to enjoy Barcelona’s sunshine while enjoying freshly squeezed fruit juice, a cold beer or any of the selection of exclusive Mimosa cocktails which will be served on the terrace.
