Shang Palace at Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong presents a taste of old canton (China)

The Michelin two-star Shang Palace restaurant at Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong presents the Old Canton set menu, which is available from 1 October to 31 December 2009 for lunch and dinner. Reminiscing the good old days, guests can savour traditional and authentic well-known Cantonese dishes, which require meticulous and complicated preparation.

Priced at HK$9,888 per table of 12 persons, the set menu features Lucky Gold (Deep Fried Prawn Taro Puffs); A Phoenix Legend (Double Boiled Whole Fresh Chicken Filled with Superior Bird’s Nest); Pearls from the River (Steamed Minced Canton Dace Fish Dumplings with Tangerine Peel and Soya Sauce); 12 Clear Moons over the Bridge (Steamed Yunnan Ham with Bean Curd); Traditional Treasure Duck (Braised Traditional Stewed Duck); Sautéed Minced Quail served with Chinese Lettuce; Fresh Noodles in Chicken Broth; Steamed Glutinous Rice with Chinese Hua Diao and Fresh Crabmeat; Baked Sago Pudding with Lotus Seed Cream and ends with Fresh Fruit Platter.

The set menu includes one bottle of Kweichow Moutai and 24 glasses of soft drinks or orange juice. The price is subject to a 10 per cent service charge. For reservations, please call (852) 2733 8754.

Lavishly decorated in auspicious red and gold with traditional motifs imported from China, Shang Palace offers a range of dim sum, set lunch and à la carte menus for lunch from noon until 3 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Offering a range of set dinner and à la carte menus to tempt the discerning palate, it opens daily for dinner from 6:30 to 11:00 p.m.
