Saturday the 19th of September saw many serious athletes, weekend adventure seekers and supporting friends and family flock to Bophut Koh Samui for another challenging 1 day race in the Amazing Thailand Adventure Race series.
The 4th annual event, organized by Active Management Asia, was said to be the most challenging event of the series so far. The multi category event catered for an extreme level of competition allowing the experienced and extremely fit to compete against each other as well as the newcomers who could still participate with a hope of winning in the not so experienced adventure level.
X2 Samui sponsored a 2 man team competing at the extreme level in the masters division that required a combined team age to equal 80 years or over. Niphon Suwan and Charoen Sangkangkaro took Team X2 to victory winning the extreme masters division and placing 3rd best team overall. The Extreme Course saw these X2 fighting fit men complete a 45km bike ride in the mountains, 1km sea swim, 10km sea kayak, 15km run through the woodlands and a few surprise obstacles along the way. A total of 71 grueling killometres conquered in 5 hours and 2 seconds.
X2 Samui is proud of and heartily congratulates their winning team along with all other competitors and looks forward to being an integral part of next years event.
Opened in June 2008 on the southeast coast of Samui Island, X2 Samui encompasses 27 casually elegant beachfront villas decorated by famed architect and designer Be Gray. The resort is situated on 5-acres of pristine beachfront land in Hua Thanon village, south of Lamai beach, overlooking the Gulf of Thailand and only 40 minutes drive from Samui Airport.
