Elegant Hotels Group has named Simon Sherwood as Non-executive Chairman. In his new role, Mr. Sherwood will draw upon his proven experience in the hospitality industry to lead the Board of Directors and guide the hotel group’s excellence in service, operations and employee relations. Elegant Hotels Group consist of five distinctive beachfront hotels and resorts dotted along the west and south coasts of Barbados including Turtle Beach Resort, Crystal Cove Hotel, Colony Club Hotel, Tamarind Cove Hotel and The House.
Mr. Sherwood joins Elegant Hotel Group having previously served as President and CEO of Orient-Express Hotels (OEH), which owns and operates luxury hotels and brands throughout the world. During his 14-year tenure, the OEH portfolio expanded from 6 to 50 hotels and market capitalization grew from $30 million to more than $2 billion.
Mr. Sherwood was educated at Cambridge University and at Harvard Business School, where he received an MBA with distinction. He speaks Spanish, Italian and French.
