Company Named Member of FTSE4Good Index and ‘World’s Most Ethical Company’
Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) has been recognized by two prominent organizations—the FTSE Group and the Ethisphere Institute, for its commitment to corporate citizenship and ethics in the first half of 2009.
Most recently, Marriott was named again as a member company of the FTSE4Good Index. Marriott has been a constituent of FTSE since 2002, and is being recognized as a company that is working toward environmental sustainability, developing positive relationships with stakeholders and supporting universal human rights. The FTSE4Good Index Series, created in 2001 and managed by the FTSE Group, is a series of benchmark and tradable indices for socially responsible investors.
Earlier this year, Marriott was once again recognized by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the “World’s Most Ethical Companies” -- a significant achievement and recognition of the company’s commitment to ethical leadership, transparency and corporate social responsibility. Marriott earned a coveted spot on the list by going beyond legal minimums and introducing innovative solutions to benefit the public.
"Marriott is honored to be recognized by both of these groups," said Ed Ryan, executive vice president and general counsel for Marriott International. "We are committed to operating a socially responsible organization that benefits shareholders, owners, employees and guests."
Other awards recognizing Marriott as a great place to work in 2009 include:
• FORTUNE – “Best 100 Companies to Work For” and “Most Admired Companies”
• DiversityInc magazine –“Top 50 Companies for Diversity”
• Hispanic Magazine - "Top Ten Companies Working for Hispanics"
• Computerworld – “Best Places to Work in IT”
• National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) – “Top 50 Companies for Executive Women”
