Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort & Spa has donated and installed five water tanks to Laselasi village which was one of the villages that was severely affected by the floods in January. As part of its ongoing assistance provided to the community in Sigatoka Resort executives and management attended a thanksgiving ceremony at Laselase last Saturday where village leaders thanked the Resort for their support during and after the floods had subsided.

A small team that included hotel executives visited Laselase where they were welcomed with a kava ceremony and a rousing performance by the famous Laselase cultural group and then a lunch that was prepared by their hosts.

Addressing village elders and families who attended the thanksgiving Resort General Manager, Daniele Vastolo, said that he and his team were honoured to attend the special ceremony. “This coming together makes us feel part of the community and we look forward to continue this relationship to grow the community,” Mr Vastolo said. “We also look forward to the community helping us to grow the island of Yanuca which is our home – vinaka vakalevu.”

Five water tanks were installed at Laselase village located close to the Sigatoka River.
