A veteran of the hotel industry, Tom Krooswijk previously made his mark at InterCotinental Hotels & Resorts. His career saw him working in the Middle East, where he held the position of Senior Vice President overseeing 17 hotels in the area, after which he was appointed VP for Eastern Europe and subsequently GM of the ‘Grand Inter-Continental Paris’ and VP for France and Switzerland.
As of June 29 2009 he was appointed to general manager of Hotel de l'Europe. Before accepting this new position he was involved at opening, renovating and repositioning of InterContinental trophy hotels in key destinations: Riyadh, Dubai, the Metropol Hotel in Moscow, Vienna, Paris, and the Carlton in Cannes, just to name a few. Most recently Tom was involved as COO & VP of development/planning for Refad Hotel & Resorts and subsequently for Versailles Properties Holding for various 5-star hotel openings in the Middle East. Tom is a graduate of the Lausanne Hotel Management School.
Mr. Frans van der Minne from Heineken commented that ‘We intend to make Hotel de l'Europe the place in Amsterdam for guests from all over the world to meet. We expect Tom Krooswijk’s extensive experience in the international hotel trade to give Hotel de l’Europe an even greater status after expansions have taken place.
The hotel de l’Europe is currently working on an important renovation programme in corporation with Architect Cees Dam and will see an additional 24 suites and four state of the art function rooms in its atrium extention. Therefore the l’Europe will be Amsterdam’s foremost premier venue for meetings, incentives and fine dining. The Hotel will emphasize its position as the the most convenient and exquisite hospitality destination on the Amstel river in the city center.
