The historic Glen Cove Mansion, which has welcomed distinguished guests for nearly a century, partnered last week with Golf Digest magazine to welcome former NBA star Michael Jordan, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and performer Justin Timberlake. The celebrities were guests of Golf Digest and participated in the 2009 Golf Digest U.S. Open Challenge, played this year at Bethpage State Park’s Black Course in Farmingdale, New York, in association with the USGA and NBC Sports.
Glen Cove Mansion was selected for the distinguished guests’ hotel accommodations and Gala Dinner while at the Golf Digest U.S. Open Challenge.
The century-old former Gilded Age estate, which is on Long Island’s storied North Shore Gold Coast just 30 minutes from New York City, was originally the country house of John & Ruth Pratt. The Gold Coast estate’s connection with sports stars and Hollywood celebrities extends back to the 1950s, with the mansion and grounds having been included in a number of motion pictures, including the original Sabrina starring Audrey Hepburn.
