Jonathan Wigley, CEO of Absolute Hotel Services Co., Ltd. appoints Rene Balmer as Vice President Operations & Technical Services
Mr. Balmer has over 26 years of experience in hospitality industry and is known for his unrelenting creativity in operations. Most recently he served as general manager - operations of Lebua Hotels and Resorts, The Dome at State Tower where he looked after the entire F&B operations, engineering department as well as working on special projects for the hotel expansions in New Zealand. During his three years with the company, the hotel won many awards from Conde Nast Traveler USA for Top 80 tables in the World, The Art of Travel from The Ultimate Luxury Travel Book, Elite Traveler award, The Best Business hotel in Asia award from CNBC Asia and Travelers Choice award from Tripadvisor.
Prior to that he was executive chef of the Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa, leading a team of over 180 chefs for 10 restaurants including food catering for all Starbucks operations in Bangkok and increased food and beverage revenue to be ranked as the 2nd highest grossing food and beverage revenue producing Hotel in Bangkok. His other achievements also included creating new concepts and opening of the new restaurant when he worked at Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket as executive chef. Rene came to Thailand in 1997 by joining The Landmark Bangkok as executive chef. Prior to that he has worked in many hotels in such international locale including China, Egypt, Germany and Switzerland.
