New staff take up roles in Saigon, Hoi An and Ha Long Bay
While the global recession prompts conservatism in the hospitality industry, the Life Resorts is plowing ahead with investment in developments and human resources.
The resort company recently announced the appointment of a general manager for its new resort property on Ha Long Bay. It has elevated its resorts operations manager to group resorts development manager; moved a general manager from one resort to a corporate-wide post; and moved an assistant resort manager into the general manager’s spot in Hoi An.
“We don’t have any doubts in the long-term viability of this market or our model,” said Chris Duffy, general director of the Life Resorts Management Company. “Rather than retrench, we’ve decided to invest.”
By the end of the year, Life Resorts plans to launch five boats as part of Life Heritage Resort Ha Long Bay with Benjamin Schibli as pre-opening manager / general manager.
Overseeing the Ha Long project, as well as Life’s developments in Da Nang and Ninh Binh, is Stuart Murphy. Murphy previously worked as Life’s resorts operations manger. In his new position, he’ll report directly to Chris Duffy.
Cathy McConkey, who formerly worked as general manager of Life Heritage Resort Hoi An, takes over as general manager of resort operations. The general managers of Life’s existing resorts in Hoi An, Quy Nhon and Phan Thiet, will each report to McConkey.
Erik Billgren will fill McConkey’s shoes in Hoi An as general manager, where he’s been working as acting general manager for the past six months. Joel Bourke takes over as the new assistant resort manager in Ho An.
