New name and new plans for Diamond Wailea Resort & Spa
Black Diamond Hospitality Investments LLC of Honolulu announced the renaming of Diamond Wailea Resort & Spa to ‘Hotel Wailea Maui’ effective June 15, 2009.
“Inspiration for the name comes from the understated ambiance and elegance of the Wailea resort,” said Jon McManus, partner, Black Diamond LLC. “Perched 300 feet above the magnificent Wailea community, Hotel Wailea Maui is an inviting hideaway that remembers the era when guests wanted a classy place to stay, maximum privacy and discreet customer service. The 72 suites are being updated with tasteful and comfortable decor to relive that style and complement the resort.”
Originally an exclusive club for affluent Japanese visitors looking for a tranquil and private tropical retreat, the resort’s timeless charm will be preserved but significantly refreshed. Upgrades for the suites include complete bath and lighting re-dos with added amenities. Two 32-inch flat screen televisions for the living room and bedroom, new sofa, original artwork, cordless telephone and i-Home clocks will be featured in the ultra-spacious
900 sq. ft. accommodations. New bed, luxurious new sheets with duvet, bed throw and plush bath towels will also be added.
“Because of the resort’s sprawling layout and buildings designed with just four units, work is easily isolated to minimize guest discomfort,” commented Henry Perez, General Manager. “Our plan is to have groups of buildings upgraded at the same time, allowing the process to move along very quickly. All work should be done by October 1.”
“Already completed are resurfacing of the pool deck and installation of new outdoor furniture including a fabulous ‘mojito’ daybed which must be experienced to be fully appreciated,” added Perez. “In comparison, work on other public areas will be kept to a minimum as the facilities have been well-maintained and are in pristine condition.”
The fitness center, located below the lobby level, and the full service spa will not be affected.
The Spa at Hotel Wailea offers customers an ocean view and Hydro Therapy System that includes a large whirlpool, dry sauna and pressure body shower along with a wide selection of relaxing and rejuvenating treatments including massages and exotic facials. “Our Spa may be the only facility in the Islands offering the ‘Nightingale’ facial,” noted Perez. “It’s a treatment that recently received national attention when it was mentioned on the Oprah show as a beauty secret of the women of Japan. The facial uses dehydrated nightingale droppings to lighten and even out skin tone.”
For small and mid-size groups, Hotel Wailea Maui offers a variety of meeting and function options. Kaimana Hall, a half moon-shaped room, provides a unique and creative setting with a private pre-function space accommodating up to 100 people. A Special Dining Room is set in permanent boardroom-style seating for intimate meetings of 2-15 people and features natural light and views of the spectacular waterfall and Koi pond. The extensive grounds, gardens and romantic gazebo offer picture perfect backdrops and stunning settings for special events, weddings and receptions.
Guests of Hotel Wailea Maui are fortunate to have award-winning Capische? restaurant located on property and offering al fresco dining with stunning panoramic ocean views. Chef/Owner Brian Etheredge and his staff create unique and inventive fare in a beautiful and relaxing environment. Capische? was recently named ‘Best Italian Restaurant in Hawaii’ by the prestigious Zagat publication.
Guests of Hotel Wailea Maui also have signing privileges at the Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa which includes food and beverage, retail purchases, spa treatments, and full pool privileges with cabana rentals.
Other services and amenities at the resort include:
