I'll drink to that!
There's a reason bartenders make great leading men. From Ted Danson in Cheers to Tom Cruise in Cocktail, who can resist a drink from a guy with a twinkle in his eye, a joke on his tongue and a martini shaker attached to his wrist?
As it turns out, no one! If you stop by Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale on a Saturday afternoon, don't be surprised to see a crowd of 50 to 70 people clamoring around the poolside bar. With all the laughs and wide grins, you might say it's the new Happy Hour — they're all there to catch the act of Sean Hoy, the self-described Johnny Carson of bartenders.
At his weekly Margarita Demonstrations, Sean does much more than show guests how to juice a lime. As a cartoonist and comedian (he once shared the stage with Andrew Dice Clay), Sean stirs up plenty of chuckles as he whips up the Resort's signature Prickly Pear and Troon Margaritas (at last count, he'd made at least 2,399 of them). He's also been known to "educate" onlookers about the fictional Troon bird, a little white lie made even more charming by Sean's sparkling blue eyes and dimpled grin.
Hey, even though bartenders are known for giving great advice, that doesn't mean they always tell the truth — especially in the noble name of comedy.
