Raffles Makkah Palace to open in November 2009

Raffles Hotels & Resorts has announced that it will be managing a new hotel in the Holy city of Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The all-suite hotel is set to be the jewel of the prominent Abraj Al Bait Complex developed by Saudi Binladin Corporation in the Development of King Abdal Aziz Endowment Project, and will enjoy an outstanding location, with suites as well as a spacious outdoor dining terrace overlooking Al Masjid al Haram.

At a mere 3 minutes walk away, Raffles Makkah Palace will
offer residents immediate access to the Holiest site in Islam and the primary destination of pilgrims - the Kaaba within the Al Masjid al Haram

Occupying the 11th to 26th levels, Raffles Makkah Palace will feature 198 spacious suites. The ambience at Raffles Makkah Palace will be one of sophistication, reflective
of the region’s rich heritage, with design elements influenced by Arabic art and culture. With an average of three staff for every suite and complemented with round-theclock butler service, residents at Raffles Makkah Palace can expect to receive the highest standards of attentive service that has become a signature style at Raffles hotels and resorts around the world. Well located high speed elevators throughout the property will facilitate seamless and efficient service, and ease of access during the five daily prayer periods.

Residents will have several dining options for their selection. The elegant Tea Lounge at lobby level will feature a range of gourmet cakes, specialty tea blends and the finest coffee roasts from around the world, with a tea and coffee sommelier on hand to assist patrons and residents with recommendations to suit their dining selection. Raffles Creamery will offer personalised blends of ice-cream creations, prepared on a cold marble “teppanyaki” stone – a dessert trend that presently enjoys growing popularity globally. Levantine Restaurant will celebrate culinary delights influenced by the flavours
of Eastern-Mediterranean while the all-day dining restaurant will offer cuisine from Asia and the Middle East. A highlight at the all-day dining restaurant will be a chocolate room where chefs will prepare pralines and truffles, customised to suit each patron’s preference.

His and hers only fitness centres, beauty parlour and grooming salons, as well as access to an adjoining retail mall and Raffles Amrita Spa complete the range of facilities and services available at Raffles Makkah Palace.

Raffles Makkah Palace is developed by Saudi Binladin Corporation (SBC), one of the largest development and construction firms in the Arab world. Raffles Makkah Palace, Saudi Arabia, will be Raffles Hotels & Resorts’ second property in the Middle East. The group made its debut in the region in 2007 with the iconic Raffles Dubai located adjacent to Wafi. The growth of Raffles Hotels & Resorts’footprint to Makkah will also see Fairmont Raffles Hotels International operate as a
group in the Holy city, as Raffles Makkah Palace will be located adjacent to The Makkah Clock Royal Tower, A Fairmont Hotel, at the Abraj Al Bait Complex. The Abraj Al Bait Complex is part of the King Abdal Aziz Endowment Project with a mandate to upgrade the precincts of the two Holy Mosques.
