Newly Built, Upscale Hotel Incorporates Modern Accommodations and Sustainable Design in One of the World’s Most Scenic Eco-destinations

Doubletree by Hilton™, the upscale, full-service brand that is part of the Hilton Family of Hotels, has announced the official opening of the Doubletree Guest Suites by Hilton Paracas Peru. The hotel celebrates its official grand opening today with a dedication by the honourable Alan Garcia, president of Peru, along with hotel executives, local officials and an array of invited guests. Located between Lima and Nasca along the Panamerican Highway, near some of the richest ecosystems and archaeological sites in the world, the Doubletree Guest Suites by Hilton Paracas offers two stories of spacious, all-suite accommodations with stunning views of desert landscape and the azure waters of the Pacific. The Paracas National Reserve Park, the Ballestas Islands, the mysterious pre-Incan “El Candelabro” and the “Nazca Lines” all are within easy access of the hotel.

“The opening of the Doubletree Guest Suites by Hilton Paracas Peru symbolizes our brand’s continuing worldwide expansion to some of the world’s most distinctive and desirable destinations for business and pleasure. We are proud to welcome our latest all-suite hotel, which has been thoughtfully designed to celebrate this incredible destination and its environment,” commented Dave Horton, senior vice president – brand management for Doubletree Hotels.

The Doubletree Guest Suites by Hilton Paracas Peru becomes the second Doubletree by Hilton to open in Peru and the fourth in Latin America, signifying the further expansion of the brand in this country and around the world. Current Doubletree locations in Latin America include San Jose and Puntarenas, Costa Rica and Lima, Peru.

The Doubletree Guest Suites by Hilton Paracas Peru was developed and is operated by Inversiones Brade S.A., under a franchise agreement with Hilton Hotels Corporation. Inversiones Brade S.A. has proudly operated the Doubletree El Pardo by Hilton Lima, the longest continuously operating Doubletree outside the United States, since 2000.

Ricardo Bracale of Inversiones Brade S.A. remarked: “After some construction delays due to the catastrophic earthquake that devastated the Ica region in the summer of 2007, we were even more committed to bring tourism and business back to this region by creating an outstanding hotel experience in this unique destination. We hope our guests will find the welcoming nature of the Doubletree by Hilton brand in harmony with the scenic adventures available to them right outside our hotel doors. We are delighted to team up with Doubletree and Hilton once again to introduce our second Doubletree by Hilton hotel in Peru, based on our great success in Lima, and look forward to bringing our longstanding tradition of fine service to this newest all-suite offering.”

As one of the upscale hotel brands in the Hilton Family of Hotels, Doubletree by Hilton provides business travellers and tourists with the brand’s longstanding tradition of distinctively designed hotels that reflect the destination and surrounding area. Other Doubletree by Hilton characteristic qualities include the warm worldwide welcome of the brand’s legendary chocolate chip cookie to every guest at check-in, the rewards of the prestigious Hilton HHonors® loyalty programme and a unique and caring commitment to the communities in which they operate.

The Doubletree Guest Suites by Hilton Paracas Peru features 124 well-appointed, 55 m², two-room suites. The suite’s living room provides spacious dining and sitting areas; a large desk with chair; and a kitchenette with microwave and refrigerator. The bedroom includes either king or double full beds outfitted with the brand’s signature Sweet Dreams by Doubletree Sleep Experience. All suites also feature such residential style amenities as high-speed wireless internet access, two 32” LCD screen TV sets with Premium channels, in-room climate control, iron with ironing board, hair dryer, personal safe, MP3-compatible stereo alarm clocks and two speaker phones with voicemail, upscale bath and body products and much more.

For a relaxing getaway, the Doubletree Guest Suites by Hilton Paracas Peru offers a full complement of resort and recreation services, including:

* A fully-equipped Doubletree by Precor Fitness facility – featuring the latest in cardio, weight training, and exercise equipment.
* Doubletree Kids Club, with impressive facilities, kiddie pool, and fun activities to entertain the youngest guests all day long.
* Spectacular 750m² tropical pool and sun deck, overlooking a private beach.
* Luxurious, full-service INCA SPA by Novaskin® featuring treatment rooms, a beauty parlour and whirlpool.
* Tour Concessionaires (fee) providing water sports, tennis activities, land and sea excursions and sightseeing adventures to some of Peru’s most breathtaking natural treasures.

The main restaurant, El Candelabro, offers a wide selection of local and continental dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, either buffet or a la carte. At the Terrace, an extensive choice of international appetizers and dining by candlelight awaits in a tropical pool and oceanside setting. Live, evening entertainment and tropical beverages, including the regional favorite Pisco Sour, are served at Los Navegantes. For a quick bite or tempting beverage, a Snack Bar is conveniently located poolside.

Because of the hotel’s location amongst some of the most pristine ecosystems in the world, the Doubletree Guest Suites by Hilton Paracas Peru has undertaken an extensive series of sustainable steps to ensure conservation of the region’s resources, wherever possible. As a result, Inversiones Brade has collaborated with Mundo Azul, one of Peru’s most respected, non-profit, environmental organizations. This relationship began in 2005 with a commission for an environmental impact study in the design, construction and operation of an environmentally responsible hotel. Further support will continue to be provided by the hotel’s owners for Mundo Azul’s dolphin research and preservation programs, along with further work with the nearby Paracas National Preserve to ensure this region’s flora, fauna and sealife continue to thrive for generations to come.

Some of the sustainable measures that have and will continue to be implemented on the grounds of the Doubletree Guest Suites by Hilton Paracas Peru include the following:

* An intentional, low-rise hotel architectural design that reduces minimal visual impact on the native desert coastal landscape.
* A majority of building and design materials were sourced from within a 300 km radius of the hotel and more than 90% of the construction team was hired from the local area.
* The development of a wastewater reclamation plant specifically for the hotel that is entirely independent of the area sewage system and cleans wastewater to a quality that can be used for watering the hotel’s garden areas.
* Energy saving light bulbs, biodegradable cleaning supplies and other eco-friendly supplies will be used throughout the hotel, wherever possible.
* Paper, glass, plastic, metal and petroleum-based products will be collected for recycling purposes.
* Organic waste will be collected and treated in rain worm-systems in order to produce fertilizer which then can be used for the hotel’s gardens or donated to public school gardens and local farmers.
* A fine selection of fresh seafood from local waters and produce from the rich valleys and farms of the nearby Ica Region are used in the hotel’s dining facilities.
* Xeriscaping has been utilized throughout the hotel grounds to reduce or eliminate the need for supplemental irrigation.
* Each staff member at the hotel will receive comprehensive training about the hotel’s environmental measures and environmental conservation in general.
* Free tourism training courses were provided for hundreds of local residents in the area of Pisco-Paracas, in order to improve the quality of tourism services, employment opportunities and business in general provided at the hotel and in the area.
* An environmental education program, filled with interactive activities, lessons and fun, is being developed for enjoyment by the hotel’s youngest guests.

Bracale remarked about his company’s passion and appreciation for being socially responsible with this latest venture: “The only way tourism can survive in an exceptional location like Paracas is when business, community and the environment come together in harmony to celebrate an area’s natural and cultural attractions. Therefore travel companies should not create a negative impact on the local landscape, as they could destroy the tourism attractions that are the very reason for their existence. Because of our proximity to Lima and a pleasant year-round climate, Paracas Bay and the surrounding area has incredible potential to become one of the country’s most important tourism regions in the months and years to come. As a result, we feel it is more crucial than ever for the Doubletree Guest Suites by Hilton Paracas to set high standards of sustainability as we welcome the world’s travellers to enjoy and appreciate this amazing destination.”
