Wyland Waikiki Resort & Spa to be converted into 404-room Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki Beach

Marriott International’s (NYSE:MAR) moderately-priced Courtyard by Marriott power brand will call Honolulu, Hawaii “home” following the conversion in mid-2009 of the 17-story Wyland Waikiki Resort & Spa into the 404-room Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki Beach. The hotel will be operated under a franchise agreement with Lodging Capital Partners LLC; Outrigger Hotels & Resorts will manage the property.

The hotel currently offers 307 standard rooms and 96 one bedroom and one two-bedroom suites. It is located at the corner of Lewers Street and Kuhio Avenue in Honolulu, approximately a half-mile north of Waikiki Beach.

“We are excited to introduce our immensely popular Courtyard by Marriott brand to Honolulu,” said Ed Fuller, president & managing director of international lodging for Marriott International. “From the start, our innovative Courtyard brand revolutionized the travel experience for business and leisure travelers alike. It has prided itself as a brand that listens to what its guests want from a hotel—more control and choice in services and amenities—and delivers on those expectations.”

“The affiliation with Courtyard by Marriott brings an unmatched global brand and distribution system to our hotel. We are excited about our relationship with Marriott and the potential for the hotel’s future,” said Steve Kisielica, principal, Lodging Capital Partners, LLC.

Key to all Courtyard hotels are their tastefully appointed guest rooms. Accommodations offer plush bed and bath linens; distinctly defined rest, work, relaxation and grooming areas; flat screen television; high-speed internet and voice mail access; in room safe; iron and ironing board and a coffee/tea maker.

Courtyard lobbies are contemporary, open and stylish, providing access, control and consistency. Colorful, bright and welcoming spaces—such as an area where guests can check e-mail, meet informally with colleagues or simply relax while mapping out their day—allow for multi-purpose use throughout the stay. Meeting rooms, swimming pools, whirlpools and exercise rooms are available at most locations.

For dining and entertainment, the Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki Beach will have Spada, an all-day casual restaurant serving breakfast and dinner daily; a spacious, lobby bar and lounge and a coffee bar called Kimobean. For those who prefer dining in their rooms, room service will be available.

For recreation, the hotel will offer Spa Pure for relaxation after a day of conducting business or touring the local attractions, an outdoor swimming pool, whirlpool and a fitness center. Additional amenities include a business center, an entertainment room, a concierge and a travel desk to assist with local touring and valet parking. For conferences and social events, the hotel will feature 1,200 square-feet of meeting space.

Recently, Courtyard by Marriott celebrated the opening of its 800th hotel, making it the world’s 12th largest lodging brand with properties in 28 countries worldwide.
