Minneapolis-based Carlson has announced that 21-year Carlson veteran Molly Biwer has been promoted to vice president, corporate communications and public relations.
Biwer began her career with Carlson Hotels Worldwide in the procurement department and was responsible for selling the food distribution program to Radisson Hotels. She went on to lead the sales department for Provisions, part of the hotels group, which offered turnkey design packages for Radisson Hotels & Resorts and Country Inns & Suites By Carlson franchisees.
In 1995, Biwer assumed responsibility for Carlson Hotels’ annual business meetings. Later, she served as director of Brand Program Experience, where she spearheaded the strategic brand development plans for Regent Hotels International, Radisson, and Country Inns & Suites. In 2004, Biwer successfully led the product development and consumer launch of Radisson’s Sleep Number® bed program.
More recently, Biwer was the director of Carlson’s 70th anniversary Summit and World Gala, responsible for production, program management, employee engagement events, sponsorship, global charity tie-in and media coverage. In 2008, she was awarded the Carlson Fellows honor for career performance/employee achievement.
Biwer earned a degree in marketing at the University of Minnesota, and she is a 2002 graduate of Carlson’s Executive Leadership Program. In her new role, Biwer will continue to report to Jim Porter, executive vice president and chief administrative officer, and lead corporate office efforts related to internal communications, public relations, public affairs, community relations, government affairs and responsible business.
She and her family live in Plymouth, Minnesota.
