JAL Hotels Co., Ltd. announced plans today to open a new Nikko Hotels International luxury hotel, to be built in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam's largest city.
Hotel Nikko Saigon, which will be built in a large, newly-developed commercial complex, Royal Centre Project, in Ho Chi Minh City, is expected to open in October, 2011. The 25-story, 629,000-square-foot building will have 335 guest rooms. Facilities will include restaurants with Japanese, Chinese and other cuisines, banquet rooms, a business center, a spa, a pool and a fitness club. The hotel will cater to both business and leisure clientele.
"We are very pleased to add Hotel Nikko Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City as our second Nikko Hotels property in Vietnam," said Katsumi Chiyo, president and CEO, JAL Hotels Co., Ltd. "We opened Hotel Nikko Hanoi in 1998 as one of the first luxury hotels in Hanoi, and we have had an excellent experience as both an employer and a hotelier in the Vietnamese market. We are looking forward to this expansion of our presence there."
Formerly known as Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City, with a population of 6.4 million, is a financial and commercial hub, and the gateway to other tourist destinations including the Mekong Delta. Tourists flock to the city's many attractions, including the Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral, Municipal Theater-Saigon Opera House, Reunification Palace and the Ben Thanh Market, the city's oldest and busiest market.
