Carlos C. Lopes and L. K. Eric Prevette, who partnered for 20 years to manage luxury hotels under brands including RockResorts and Rosewood Hotels, along with Terry Petty, who served as executive vice president of Marriott International, have recently joined together to launch Unique Hotels. Unique Hotels will make investments in hotel properties across the country and provide advisory services in the areas of hotel acquisitions, development, asset management, operations, and marketing.

These three principals of Unique Hotels are seasoned executives with distinguished careers in various sectors of the hospitality industry, including branding of full-service and limited-service properties, independent, and luxury hotels. Most recently, Lopes served as managing director of Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles; Prevette served as president of The Irvine Company’s Resort Properties Division; and Petty served as chairman of The Irvine Company’s Resort Properties Division. In addition, over their careers these primary partners have also worked with organizations including Four Seasons, Price Waterhouse, MacKenzie and Company, as well as consulting assignments with major institutions such as C.S. First Boston and Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan.

“We believe current hotel valuations present an opportune time to invest in hotel properties. Our group is focused on distressed and underperforming assets located in major market centers and resort destinations,” says Lopes, managing director of Unique Hotels. “We are well capitalized to invest or partner in hotel acquisitions, as well as to provide comprehensive and value added advisory services solutions for our clients,” adds Prevette, who also serves as managing director of the company.

The company provides services to a variety of clients within the hospitality industry, ranging from small developers to Wall Street investment banks. Clients include hotel owners, investors, lenders, developers and operators. In addition to investing in hotels as a principal, the company provides advisory services to assist owners and developers to secure debt and equity financing for new and existing properties as well as to market and sell hotel assets.
