Global hospitality leader extends its reach into the Far East

Global hospitality leader, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, has further expanded its global footprint by introducing the company’s collection of distinctive hotels and worldwide reputation for excellence to the Asia Pacific region.

The forerunner of major developments and the first hotel to open in Asia is the Fairmont Singapore. Ideally situated at the crossroads of Singapore's business, cultural, entertainment and shopping districts, the property exudes understated elegance. Two 26-storey towers boast 769 guestrooms and suites decorated in a modern, sophisticated style offering spectacular views of Singapore’s skyline and panoramic views of the Marina Bay and Promenade.

The Fairmont Beijing, scheduled to open in the summer of 2009, marks the brand’s landmark entry into China and is the next hotel in Asia to join the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts family. Commanding an unrivalled presence as the ‘Gate’ to Beijing’s Central Business District, and close proximity to cultural landmarks such as Silk or Pearl Market, Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and Temple of Heaven, the Fairmont Beijing provides ease of accessibility for business or leisure travelers. Fairmont Yangcheng Lake Hotel in Kunshan, scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2009, is located on the scenic shores of Yang Cheng Lake in China’s Jiangsu province, will join sister hotels operating in the region as part of the brand’s expansion into China..

Located 50 miles west of Shanghai and 25 minutes from the Kunshan City center, Fairmont Yangcheng Lake Hotel will offer 200 rooms and suites with stunning lake or park views, 2,100 square meters of function space and a business center. It will feature a fully equipped health club, outdoor and indoor swimming pools and the award-winning Fairmont spa brand, Willow Stream. The hotel will also offer four food and beverage outlets designed to suit both sophisticated and casual dining palates with great views over the lake, equally famous for its hairy crab and the lush gardens of the nearby park.
The brand will renovate and reopen The Fairmont Peace Hotel, a Shanghai landmark for over a century in 2010. The hotel has hosted distinguished guests from all over the world, including politicians, artists and celebrities such as General Marshall, Charlie Chaplin, Bernard Shaw and Noel Coward who wrote Private Lives while in residence. Situated on the Bund, the 12-story Peace Hotel enjoys a premier downtown location, facing the Pudong area over the Hangpu River.
Fairmont Hotels & Resort’s growing presence in Asia will be further driven by developments including Fairmont Makati, Manila (2010), Fairmont Hyderabad, India (2010) and Fairmont Haitang Bay Resort, Sanya (2011).
