Pullman is Accor's new five-star brand, and the Cairns hotel re-branding comes at a time of major expansion for the brand, with new Pullman hotels set to launch in China, Malaysia and Indonesia. It also follows the September debut of the brand in Australia, when Pullman at Sydney Olympic Park opened its doors. The brand is expected to grow to 300 Pullman hotels globally by 2015, with the largest growth being in the Asia Pacific region.

With its contemporary style and décor, updated conference and event facilities and large choice of bars and award-wining restaurants, the Pullman Reef Hotel Casino is an ideal addition to the Pullman network.

Situated in the heart of Cairns city, overlooking Trinity Bay and the Great Barrier Reef departure point, the hotel is the most prestigious accommodation and entertainment complex in Cairns, featuring 128 beautiful rooms and suites with indulgent Jacuzzi-style spa baths and private garden balconies.

The Reef Casino complex includes the boutique-style Reef Casino and $4 million Cairns Rainforest Dome, which allows visitors to see unique Australian wildlife in a picturesque setting. Guests also enjoy a variety of restaurant options, including the award-winning 'Tamarind' restaurant, which offers Thai-fusion cuisine in a stylish setting.

The hotel's business focus is complemented by a refurbished dedicated conference floor, a range of pre- and post-event venues, and six venue spaces catering for up to 1000 people. Cairns conference clients also have access to two uniquely themed venues within the complex - a large exhibition area and the hotel's own cabaret nightclub.

For leisure travellers and incentive groups the hotel is ideally located adjacent to the Cairns Port terminal, the base for charter vessels operating Great Barrier Reef day trips. Other hotel facilities include a gymnasium, spa and rooftop swimming pool with expansive city and water views.

Accor Vice President Australia, Simon McGrath, says under its new Pullman badge, the Pullman Reef Hotel Casino will have the freedom to leverage its existing five-star features and establish a new business benchmark as the region's premier conference, events and high-end incentive specialist.

"The Pullman brand is dynamic with a focus on providing services to the corporate and meetings sectors, as well as leisure travellers," says Mr McGrath.

"Following the global repositioning of the Sofitel brand late last year and the launch of Pullman, we have looked for suitable hotels to join the network - and Cairns, being such an important gateway city, was an ideal addition to the network."

The hotel's General Manager, Adam Laker, says Pullman reflects the energy and efficiency of Cairns as an evolving city.

"In a town spoilt for choice when it comes to traditional leisure resorts, Pullman will be a one of a kind in terms of prioritising the balance modern travellers desire in regards to their professional persona and lifestyle.

"The brand is principally aimed at corporate and meetings business and the hotel will introduce an IT specialist, and the Pullman Co-Meeting offer for a new approach to organising meetings and events."

Pullman is one of the great names in hospitality, best known for its association with the luxurious railway carriages that changed the face of overnight accommodation and dining on trains in America, the UK and Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries. Pullman carriages still operate on the Orient Express in Europe. Accor acquired the brand name in the early 1990s as part of its purchase of the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits.

Pullman aims to set the pace in the corporate and meetings travel markets. The brand provides a tailored offer based around three key areas:

* connectivity - including wireless and broadband access throughout the hotel, including a connectivity area in the lobby supported by an IT solutions manager. Corporate clients will enjoy wireless hotspots throughout all banqueting areas and the lobby
* calm - rooms are tailored for optimum comfort, and facilities - such as a gym - are designed specifically for the market; and
* conviviality - such as 'welcomers' to assist guest arrivals and share tables in the restaurant

Pullman Reef Hotel Casino is offering a great Summer special deal with rooms starting at AUD$189 night, including full buffet breakfast for two. This offer is valid until 31 March 2009 and bookings can be made on the Accor website.
