The 22 year old young chef from Floriana, Rueben Miceli of The Westin Dragonara Resort, has been awarded the title of the Junior Chef Challenge Champion, after he succeeded to produce an excellent 3 course meal at the Junior chefs challenge Malta selection.
All chefs presented very good standard products, and the event was really successful from my point of view. The audience was also well numbered, as time gone by. The competitors pesented all their dishes, even if many of them exceeded the time limit.
As for every competition there had to be a winner, and after delibarating, all judges agreed that Rueben Miceli of the Westin Dragonara had that extra winning power in his preparation and execution of his magnificent 3 course meal.
The judging panel headed by the M.C.F.A. chairman Mr. Guido Debono, consisted of Mr. Silvio Briffa, Mr. Victor Borg and Mr. Ronnie Caruana.
Mr. Miceli will represent Malta at the Junior Chefs Challenge in Auckland, New Zealand, next March. This experience will further and strengthen Mr. Miceli's love for food and the kitchen, after his successful previous experiences in world class events, as part of the Junior Malta National Chefs Team in Ireland last year.
