Managing Director David Feder of The Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club recently announced the appointment of Bob Coman as director of golf for the Mobil Four-Star 392-room retreat.
Coman brings more than 20 years of industry experience to the legendary resort and is responsible for overseeing operations for the two Raymond Floyd-redesigned championship 18-hole golf courses.
“I’ve worked with Bob for over 10 years. His long-standing reputation within the golf community and proven track-record to successfully enhance operations and profitability is a tremendous asset to The Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club,” said Feder. “I’m certain he’ll bring great prestige to our two championship golf courses.”
Prior to joining The Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club, Coman served as president of the Golf Division for John Sibbald Associates, Inc., where he used his extensive knowledge to form a new management consulting division and professional search firm. Past positions also include director of golf for PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., as well as the Boca Raton Resort & Club.
Coman received a bachelor’s degree from Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla., and boasts numerous awards including being named one of the top 20 most admired golf operators in America by Golf Inc Magazine and honored as Club Professional of the Year by the Southeast Chapter and South Florida PGA Section. The Lake Worth-resident also has been a Class A Member of the PGA of America since 1990.
Secluded on 300 tropical acres, The Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club completed a $150 million renovation in December 2007 and features 392 guest rooms and suites, two 18-hole Raymond Floyd-redesigned championship golf courses, a world-class tennis center, the exclusive, award-winning Willow Stream Spa and fitness center, a new lagoon-style pool, a diverse selection of restaurants, including Michael Mina’s BOURBON STEAK, a 40,000 square-foot conference center, a private Ocean Club and supervised children’s program.
