The Umstead Hotel and Spa (www.theumstead.com), North Carolina’s only AAA Five Diamond hotel, has appointed Carrie Cassidy as director of catering and conference services. In her new position, Cassidy is responsible for planning and directing the activities of her department, including staff management and the oversight of all group-related functions at the hotel.
“Carrie’s impressive background in the hospitality industry is a perfect complement to the collective expertise of our catering and conference services staff, and we’re delighted to have her on our team,” said Leah Goodnight, acting general manager of The Umstead Hotel and Spa. “Her guidance will continue to propel The Umstead forward as the premier property in the region for meetings and special events.”
Cassidy brings more than a decade of experience in catering and meeting services, food and beverage management and event planning to the position. Prior to joining The Umstead, she served as the director of catering and conference services at the Sea Island Resorts properties – The Cloister and The Lodge – in Sea Island, G.A. Her previous experience includes catering sales and service manager positions at the Sheraton Chicago, the Hilton Denver Tech South and the Harrisburg Marriot in Harrisburg, Penn.
Throughout her career in the hospitality industry, Cassidy has become a dynamic sales and marketing professional. She has repeatedly exceeded revenue and sales goals and has fostered strong client relationships while encouraging new business development.
