Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) announced the ground breaking of the seventh Marriott-branded hotel in seven years with the Hispanic-owned Robert Finvarb Companies, LLC. The 198-room, all-suites business hotel, SpringHill Suites by Marriott will debut in Miami’s Health District by fall 2009.
The eight-story SpringHill Suites will open in the newly created Health District of downtown Miami. It is within walking distance to the University of Miami Medical School, Jackson Memorial Hospital, the Veteran’s Administration Hospital and the Bascom-Palmer Eye Institute. The hotel will also feature: free hi-speed internet access including WiFi in the lobby; 24-hour food and snacks; flexible workspaces, free hot breakfast buffet; suites with 25 percent additional space and more.
“We’re excited to partner with Marriott once again,” said Robert Finvarb, owner of Robert Finvarb Companies, LLC. “It’s been a great partnership. The company has been very supportive and its ownership program for minorities and women is definitely the industry’s best.”
Launched in 2005, Marriott's Diversity Ownership Initiative was established to introduce savvy business owners to the hospitality industry and to diversify the company’s ownership base. The goal is to have 500 hotels owned or managed by minorities and/or women by 2010.
Robert Finvarb Companies, LLC owns seven Marriott-branded hotels in three states. Additional properties include: Courtyard by Marriott Washington, D.C.-U.S. Capitol; Residence Inn by Marriott Phoenix Desert View at Mayo Clinic; and four in Florida – Courtyard by Marriott South Beach; Courtyard by Marriott Fort Lauderdale Airport and Cruiseport; Residence Inn by Marriott Tallahassee Universities at the Capitol; and Residence Inn by Marriott Melbourne.
