One of the best kept secrets in Vienna is about to be revealed: the Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof in Herrengasse 10 opens its doors on 1st December 2008.
An almost forgotten Viennese institution in the heart of Vienna will soon be brought back to life. Behind the listed neoclassical facade of the former Herrenhof coffee house, where such notables as Friedrich Torberg and Robert Musil came to enjoy the traditional Viennese coffee house atmosphere, hospitality of the highest calibre will reign once more. On 1st December, after a year-long construction period, the Steigenberger Hotel Group will be unveiling a modern luxury hotel in Vienna’s 1st District aimed at quality-conscious business travellers and city lovers. The Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof will offer 186 rooms and 10 suites, all furnished in a functional design in keeping with the simple elegance of the Herrengasse. Quality without ostentation was the top priority for General Manager Barbara Hammerschmid and her team. A symbiosis of the traditional and the contemporary is reflected both in the hotel interior and elsewhere: the cuisine in the hotel's Fine Dining Restaurant “Herrenhof”, under Head Chef Markus Trocki, offers both international gourmet food and traditional Austrian specialities with a modern twist. Whatever the style, Trocki prides himself on sourcing fresh, seasonal produce from Austria.
