The Rezidor Hotel Group announces the Park Inn Tula – the 190 room-property is scheduled to open in Q1 2011. It brings Rezidor’s portfolio in Russia and other CIS countries to 38 hotels with more than 9,500 rooms in operation and under development. “This new signing strengthens our leading position in Russia/CIS”, says Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor, “we were an international pioneer on this market and still see a lot of potential there.”
Tula is located 150 kilometers south of Moscow; the city has existed since at least the 14th century and is today of great industrial importance to Russia. The primary industrial sectors are engineering, chemicals, ferrous metallurgy, building materials, brown coal production, food, power, and electronics. Companies in the region have considerable export potential, 650 are involved in foreign economic relations, and more than 200 different products are exported to 80 countries. Tula’s most popular tourist attraction is Yasnaya Polyana, the home and burial place of the writer Leo Tolstoy. It was here that Tolstoy wrote his celebrated novels War and Peace, and Anna Karenina.
The Park Inn Tula, developed by Rushotel and currently under construction, will be located just over the Upa River and 500 meters from the Tula Kremlin on the main road. It will feature 190 rooms, an all day restaurant, a lobby bar & lounge, a fitness area, conference & meeting space including multi purposed halls, a junior ballroom and pre-function areas, and 2 meeting rooms. The international railway station is 3 kilometers away and offers over 40 daily trips to Moscow. The M2 highway, also known as the Crimea Highway, passes around Tula and links Moscow to the Ukrainian industrial cities and Black Sea resorts. Tula does not have an airport of its own; the nearest airports are Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport (135 kilometres) Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport (155 kilometres).
