Six Senses Resorts & Spas will cease management of the Evason-branded property in Dalat, Vietnam, from 31 October 2008.
Following three years of restoration, the 17-villa 80-year-old buildings that make up the resort - Evason Ana Mandara Villas - partially opened late in 2006. With the property still not fully completed, Six Senses made the decision to terminate the management agreement to free up resources so that a sharper focus could be given to several new properties currently under development in Vietnam.
Several of these projects, including new builds in Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Quoc, are being developed in association with the same principal stakeholders as the Dalat property.
Six Senses have a long history with Vietnam, having managed the Evason Ana Mandara Nha Trang from 1997 – being the country’s first beach resort as Vietnam tourism was emerging. Then in 2005, the Six Senses Hideaway Ninh Van Bay heralded the introduction of the new brand to Vietnam. Both of these highly successful properties remain under Six Senses’ management.
In mid 2009, a Six Senses Hideaway is scheduled to open on Con Dao, followed by a 2010 opening of a Six Senses Latitude on the river at Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), and then a Six Senses Latitude and a Hideaway in early 2011 at Phu Quoc. Several other projects are in the early planning stage, reinforcing the strong commitment to Vietnam by Six Senses.
