Pioneering luxury eco-retreat launches first night helipad in the Seychelles
Frégate Island Private has taken a further step in enhancing the guest experience with the launch of its night operational helipad. Successfully inaugurated at the end of September, the helipad is the first in the Seychelles (outside Mahé International Airport) that can be accessed 24 hours, and offers guests an unprecedented level of flexibility and security.
Improvements to the helipad will not only afford guests greater freedom in arriving and departing Frégate Island Private, removing any need to stay overnight in Mahé whilst en route to or from connecting flights, but will also ensure peace of mind, bringing real safety benefits by allowing round-the-clock access for the emergency services – a first for Seychelles resorts outside Mahé.
The helipad at Frégate Island Private now meets strict criteria required for night landings and take-offs, with the addition of a 26 metre diameter outer circle with a concrete rim and landing lamps; a circular landing area 5.5 metres in diameter, with ‘H’ clearly marked on it; and a special windsock; plus beacon lights positioned around the island to aid nocturnal navigation.
