Meeting planners will have a new eco-friendly option in the Caribbean next year with the brand-new Westin Le Paradis Beach & Golf Resort in St. Lucia. The resort plans to become the region’s first fossil fuel independent resort.
Westin Le Paradis will offer, upon request, such green meeting options as soy candles, organic food and wine and classical guitar or steel drum entertainment. The 92-room resort will feature more than 23,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor function space and a fully-equipped business center. Two ballrooms sit high atop the main resort with six conference rooms and two outdoor pavilions, allowing guests to feel the tropical breezes of the Caribbean. All meeting facilities, as well public spaces, will feature wireless high-speed Internet access.
Scheduled to open in June 2009, Westin Le Paradis is working with on-site environmentalists on programs including solar hot water generation and a computerized controlled irrigation system to help conserve water.
