The Legendale Hotel, invested, designed and run by Macau people, held its grand opening ceremony last night, with around 600 distinguished guests attending, including Mr. Ho Hau Wah, Chief Executive of the Macau SAR, other Chinese leaders, and ambassadors of more than 100 countries.

Mr. Francis Tam Pak Yuen, Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macau SAR delivered a speech at the grand opening ceremony. He said that the Legendale Hotel integrated multi-cultural concepts and had met international standards. Prior to its official opening, the Legendale Hotel Beijing was honored to be assigned as an official top VIP hotel by the Beijing Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (BOCOG), which was a pride of both the Legendale Hotel and Macau people. He sincerely wished that the Legendale Hotel would make constant efforts to become a world-class brand.

He added that the investors had shown their vision and extraordinary courage by timely grasping the Olympic opportunity and aiming at mainland hotels and tourism. The government of the Macau SAR would support Macau entrepreneurs, as ever, to seek business opportunities and develop their own careers in the Mainland. Meanwhile, businessmen from the Mainland were welcome to invest and develop in Macau, supporting Beijing-Macau cooperation and complementing each other.

The Legendale Hotel is invested and founded by The Macau Legend Development Ltd. Mr. David Chow Kam Fai, founder and chairman of Legendale Hotel Beijing, pointed out at the grand opening ceremony that the whole of China and overseas Chinese had been filled with joy and expectation ever since Beijing's successful bid to host Olympic Games, providing the Macau people a way to contribute to the country. The Legendale Hotel was the result of support from the national and local governments of China, including Beijing, Macau and Beijing Dongcheng District. Representation from 56 countries, including 22 Heads-of-States stayed at the hotel during the Olympic Games. "The opening of the Legendale Hotel helped shorten the distance between Beijing and Macau, and exhibited Chinese tolerance of different cultures, Chinese tourism, and a harmonious society constructed by the integration of different cultures," Mr. David Chow Kam Fai added.

He also emphasized that the unprecedented success of the Beijing Olympics, witnessed and participated by Heads-of-State and people from all over the world, had shown to the whole world in its glory and spectacle the integration of Chinese and global cultures. It's not only a milestone that China entered the rank of great powers, but embodied the support to China from the international community. The support could also be found after Sichuan earthquakes, when all Chinese people, overseas Chinese and the whole world created the spirit of a world community. Mr. David Chow Kam Fai also gave his gratitude to ambassadors of more than 100 countries, who had come all the way to witness the grand opening of the Legendale Hotel, and help it reach international standards and continue the Olympic concept of "One World One Dream."

The Legendale Hotel will be an international platform, exerting itself on missions of enhancing cultural exchange, building a bridge of friendship, establishing a brand of Macau hotel management, promoting the cooperation between the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macau, and contributing to Chinese tourism.
