Robert McConnell, general manager of the OHANA Honolulu Airport Hotel and Best Western The Plaza Hotel, has been appointed Best Western Governor for the state of Hawaii. In addition to his duties with the two Outrigger managed hotels, he is now also responsible for liaising with Best Western International’s board of directors and the membership within Hawaii.
As a Governor, Mr. McConnell must maintain high standards in all categories of the hotel chain and must attend meetings including district and annual international convention. Best Western has five properties located throughout Hawaii including Best Western The Plaza Hotel, Honolulu; Best Western Coconut Waikiki Hotel, Waikiki; Best Western Plantation Hale Suites, Kauai; Best Western Maui Oceanfront Inn, Maui; and Best Western Pioneer Inn, Maui.
Robert McConnell is a hotel veteran with over 25 years in the industry. With Outrigger, he has worked in a succession of management positions at various Outrigger properties in Hawaii, Fiji, the Marshall Islands and Palau. Mr. McConnell is a Certified Rooms Division Executive and a Certified Hotel Administrator through the Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Motel Association. He is also an active member of various internal Outrigger organizations, including chair for Outrigger Hotels & Resort’s Political Action Committee and committee member for the annual Visitor Industry’s Charity Walk.
