For 54 years, the prestigious Relais & Chateaux association has upheld a tradition of culinary excellence. Each of the 480 members adheres to the highest culinary standards. Within that group, 160 members belong to the gastronomic elite, Grands Chefs Relais & Chateaux, a designation of culinary excellence granted to some of the world's most renowned culinary masters.
Exermplifying the stature given to these extraordinary, culinary talents are the recent Michelin Awards in New York City. Of the four restaurants each awarded 3 Michelin stars, three are Grands Chefs Relais & Chateaux: Per Se (Chef Thomas Keller); Le Bernardin (Chef Eric Ripert); Jean Georges (Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten).
In the only awarding of a Michelin 3 star designation for 2 restaurants run by a single chef in the US, The French Laundry in the Napa Valley, also headed by Chef Thomas Keller, just received 3 Michelin stars. This is the 2nd consecutive year that Chef Keller has been granted a total of 6 Michelin stars.
As International President, Jaume Tapies, summarized, "These results once again demonstrate that Relais & Chateaux is the international benchmark, not only for the world's finest hotels, but also for the world's best restaurants."
