On 5 December 2008, guests at Huvafen Fushi will be treated to a playful, ambient set from psychedelic house duo, Masomenos as part of the resort’s 2008 Dream Calendar. Guests can expect a highly imaginative performance, complete with floating figures in the infinity pool, kites swaying in the sky and colourful, vivid images played on a big screen, characteristic of the duo’s unique, experimental style.

Masomenos are graphic designer Joan Costes, daughter of leading French hotelier and owner of Hôtel Costes, and her partner, filmmaker Adrien de Maublanc. Combining their skills and spontaneous instincts, Joan and Adrien created their inspired new world by bouncing around endless ideas and experimenting with a variety of new media to test different possibilities and artistic effects.

The development of their various projects is at the heart of Masomenos’ sound and image structure, ranging from the creation of an audio and video installation for Perrier-Jouët at FIAC; composition of the soundtrack for a Vanessa Bruno fashion show; making a film for Précision; and developing a line of cosmetics for Chanel, to designing and packaging Hôtel Costes’ range of products as well as creating the website through which all the house products are sold. Joan and Adrien also produce their own music and created the overall visual identity for the film “Bon Voyage”.

A talented filmmaker complementing Joan’s music, Adrien was also awarded the Best Young Director award at Cannes in 2001 for the production of a Greenpeace film. He has also produced a number of advertisements and promotional films for the likes of Hermès and EMI.

The ‘Dream Calendar’, a series of events featuring visiting DJs, spa gurus, artists, winemakers and chefs throughout the year, has seen Huvafen Fushi featuring some of the world’s best on its shores in 2008. To date the resort has hosted music makers including Charles Shillings and José Padilla, celebrity facialist Anastasia Achilleos, and will welcome the much anticipated launch of Hôtel Costes IX by Stephane Pompougnac in November. In 2009, Huvafen Fushi will introduce a new generation of artists and explore other genres and styles of music, cuisine, spa and art.
