American Express Centurion & Platinum Card members enjoy priority booking

InterContinental Hong Kong inaugurates the “Dramatic Wine & Dine Experience”, a 3-day culinary and wine event, from Friday, November 21 to Sunday, November 23. Centurion and Platinum Cardmembers of American Express in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Thailand are offered the exclusive privilege of priority booking for this event from now until end of October. As of November 1st, the event can then be booked directly with the hotel.

The weekend will be an experience for gourmands and wine lovers, with the world’s foremost wine experts presenting the world’s finest wines and wine styles – many of which are not easily accessible in Asia.

The hotel is partnering with Michael Fridjhon, one of the leading figures in the international wine world, to organize the event, with an illustrious array of guest speakers and wines which include Pierre Lurton, General Manager of the legendary Chateau d’Yquem and Chateau Cheval Blanc; Thibault Liger Belair of Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair; Bernard Hervet of Domaine Faiveley and François Hautekeur of Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame.

Their world famous wines will be paired with cutting edge cuisine from InterContinental Hong Kong’s iconic restaurants, along with the talents of high profile guest chefs from some of the world’s leading restaurants.

Highlights of the Dramatic Wine & Dine Experience will include the unexpected and unique match of “Chateau D’Yquem” with NOBU’s innovative Japanese cuisine featuring a selection of NOBU’s signature dishes and new-style sushi and sashimi prepared by guest chef Kazuhiro Yokoyama, Head Chef of NOBU Tokyo.

The weekend will also feature the ultimate wine selection of Château Cheval Blanc spanning five decades, especially paired with a menu of contemporary French cuisine created by Ducasse veteran chef Benoit Witz. Benoit is the 1-Michelin star chef of Hostellerie de l'abbaye de la celle, Alain Ducasse’s “Maison” hotel in the South of France. The weekend’s final event will include a vertical tasting of Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame paired with seven different caviars from Planet Caviar, one of the world’s leading caviar specialists.

“We hope to attract the top connoisseurs in Hong Kong and the region for this exceptional culinary weekend, ” said Bryan Chiu, Director of Food & Beverage at InterContinental Hong Kong.

The hotel plans to make this an annual event, which truly reflects the growing dominance of the premium food and wine market in Hong Kong and Asia, one of the largest growing regions of an already established wine market.

“American Express Centurion and Platinum Cardmembers lead an affluent lifestyle and are passionate about the finest things in life. We are proud to provide them with our priority booking service for this special event so they can enjoy an exceptional and rewarding culinary experience which is a first-of-its-kind in Hong Kong,” said Kenneth Lee, Vice President and Head of Charge Products, American Express International, Inc.

InterContinental Hong Kong’s Chiu continues, “Our goal is to maintain and strengthen our hotel’s position as a leader and innovator on the Hong Kong dining scene. This means creating new and exciting events and promotions which are attractive to not only our existing customers, but also new customers to our restaurants and banquet facilities.”

On a broader scope, InterContinental Hong Kong hopes that this exclusive annual culinary event will help to strengthen Hong Kong’s position as Asia's culinary and wine capital. Hong Kong has always been known as a great food city --- with the diversity and excitement of its dining venues and regional Chinese and Asian cuisine.

In the past few years, Hong Kong has become more firmly planted on the map as one of the world’s leading culinary destinations --- following an influx of internationally recognized restaurant concepts and celebrity chef restaurants. As per Chiu, “Our hotel has been on the forefront of this recent trend, with two celebrity chef restaurants under one roof – SPOON by Alain Ducasse and NOBU InterContinental Hong Kong.”
