Radisson a rising star in the European Hotel Market according to the 2008 BDRC studies

Radisson continues to be the rising star of the BDRC Pan European Hotel Business Guest Survey: The first-class and full-service brand is the “Most Improved Brand of the Year”, and shows in 2008 a particularly good performance in Britain and Germany. The renowned BDRC (Business Development Research Consultants Ltd) survey was conducted amongst more than 3,600 business travelers in six European regions including Benelux, Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.

“The BDRC survey proves once again that Radisson’s brand awareness increase constantly”, comments Olivier Jacquin, Senior Vice President Marketing, Sales & Distribution of The Rezidor Hotel Group. “Both Britain and Germany are also for us key Meeting markets, and the investments we did over the last years are now paying off.” In Britain, Radisson continues to close the gap significantly with the two leading brands Hilton and Marriott, and now has the accolade of being the number one choice among both Agents and Corporate organisers. On the German market, where Radisson has also gained ground, the brand progressed on recognition and usage: Two thirds of German business travelers claim to be familiar with the brand (compared to just under 3 in 10 five years ago) and describe it as contemporary and inspiring.

“With excellent meeting services including Free high speed Internet access for all overnight guests and meeting delegates, Radisson is on the right way in both countries”, says Olivier Jacquin and also mentions the Nordic market, where the BDRC business traveler research recognises Radisson as “No. 1 Hotel Brand Nordic” and “Leading Choice Hotel Brand Nordic”; a position it has maintained for the last seven years in succession.

Radisson also looks towards the East: The Rezidor Hotel Group is the leading hotel operator in Russia & CIS, where it manages and develops more than 35 properties with more than 9,400 rooms – amongst them Radisson flagships in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The concept works: BDRC’s 2008 study for Russia presents Radisson as “No. 1 Hotel Brand Russia” together with Hilton, and as “Leading Choice Hotel Brand Russia”. “Rezidor was one of the first international hotel companies to arrive in Russia, and the first international hotel group to open a full technical, development, marketing and operations branch office in Moscow”, explains Olivier Jacquin. “Russia is a highly dynamic and powerful market where we see a lot of potential – it will remain in our focus for the next years.”
