Sol Meliá has added the Meliá Hacienda del Álamo to its range of golf hotels, another sign of the commitment of the hotel chain to the sport and to providing its guests with the widest possible range of services.

The hotel will open in 2009 in Fuente Álamo (Murcia) and will be managed by the Spanish hotel chain under the name Meliá Golf Hacienda del Álamo, joining the other 2 Meliá hotels specialising in the golf market: the Meliá Golf Vichy Catalán in Girona and the Meliá Sancti Petri in Cadiz.

The new hotel will be perfectly integrated with its natural environment and will provide 154 rooms, all of them connected to the main hotel building, the spa and the club house. The hotel will also provide exclusive dining and leisure facilities as well as an 18-hole golf course and a spectacular spa with the most modern and relaxing facilities. Meliá Golf Hacienda del Álamo is destined to become one of the finest hotels in the whole of southern Europe.

The Meliá hotels brand is committed to the elegant sport of golf and also provides fabulous golf courses in several of its resorts in the Caribbean and Latin America, combining perfectly with the new hotel features and the brand mission to create new and fresh experiences for guests.

This year the hotel company is also hosting its second Golf Tour, which began in Golf Cabanillas in Guadalajara on 17 April and will end on 7 and 8 November with the grand final at the Meliá Golf Sancti Petri.

The Tour includes events at the Bonalba de Mutxamel Golf Club, Alicante (5 June), the PGA Golf in Catalonia at the Meliá Golf Vichy Catalán in Girona (11 July), at the Maioris de Mallorca Golf Club (13 September), the Laukariz Golf Club in Bilbao (1 October) and the Zaudín Golf Club in Seville (16 October). Next year the Meliá Golf Hacienda del Álamo will also feature as a venue on the Tour.

The first major move by the company to grow in the golf travel segment was the creation of the Sol Meliá Golf department in Spain. Sol Meliá Golf aims to promote golf facilities and packages in company hotels in the 30 countries in which it operates.

Sol Meliá Golf will also be attending major golf trade events such as international and domestic trade fairs including Fitur, Salón du Golf in Paris, Madrid Golf and the International Golf Travel Market, to be held this year in Marbella from 17 to 20 November.

"Sol Meliá Golf: a great team for a great game ".
