The Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the fastest growing hotel companies worldwide, considerably increases the portfolio in Norway – announcing three new hotels with a total of 704 rooms. The Park Inn Arendal will already open its doors in Q3 2008; followed by the Park Inn Gardermoen Airport in Q3 2010 and the Radisson Sørlandet Resort Tromøya Arendal in Q3 2011.

“These signings mark a real step for our Business Development in Norway – the country is one of our most important home markets”, says Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor. “I’m particularly pleased to announce the Park Inn Gardermoen Airport. Rezidor is one of Europe’s strongest airport hotel management companies – with almost 30 hotels in operation and under development. Our existing Radisson SAS Airport Hotel is Oslo is hugely successful, and we are glad to add a Park Inn to our pipeline.”

The Park Inn Arendal is an existing hotel currently providing 42 rooms which will be operated under the Park Inn brand as from Q3 2008 on. A new annex will be build and bring the total number of rooms to 114 by Q3 2009. The hotel is located in the centre of Arendal – a city 260 kilometers south of Oslo and holding a strong maritime tradition: Arendal hosts the global headquarters of “Gard”, the world’s second largest shipping insurance company, and has a busy harbour with links to both Sweden and Denmark. As a popular tourist destination Arendal attracts 150,000 visitors per year – especially during summer and featuring a variety of cultural, sport and outdoor activities.

The Park Inn Gardermoen Airport will be located at the terminal building opposite the Radisson SAS Airport Hotel and next to Flyporten Conference Centre where it will be responsible for all operational issues as well. Besides 300 rooms the hotel will feature a restaurant, a bar and additional conference facilities – the new built property will welcome the first guests in Q3 2010. Business at Oslo airport (over 19 million passengers in 2007) is primarily related to telecommunicators, retail and government agencies. Over the last years, the amount of cargo has steadily grown.

The Radisson Sørlandet Resort Tromøya Arendal will be one of Norway’s largest resorts – comprising 290 rooms and being located directly at the waterfront; like a “cruise ship on land”. Opening in Q3 2011 the spectacular resort will offer two signature restaurant concepts by Rezidor, a lobby bar, take away facilities, meeting and conference facilities and a state-of-the-art spa and fitness area. In addition, the resort’s grounds will feature 40 chalets for sale, a year-round skating rink, a cinema, an aqua park, an indoor parking of 9,000 square meters, a year-round marina nestled within a mountain, and a small shopping gallery. Sørlandet is known for its beautiful strip of lowland areas along the coast that quickly rise into interior mountains and plateaus. Amongst other events, the town hosts one of Norway's largest music festivals, Hove Festival at Tromøya. It also hosts the world championships in offshore racing, the Norwegian Grand Prix.
