Tickets are now on sale for the Design Hotels™ Future Forum architecture and design symposium. This year’s event, themed “Human Design,” will take place in Berlin, Germany, 15-17 October.

The fifth annual Future Forum will once again connect leading talent in the design, art and architecture communities with great minds from the hospitality industry. Hoteliers, developers, journalists, investors, architects, designers, restaurateurs and consultants will come together to broaden their perspective on the ever-expanding hospitality world.

Human, Meet Design – Design, Meet Human
This year’s Future Forum will explore the relationship between human beings and design. This expansive topic will be discussed within the context of two design developments: Design appeals to the human wish for identity, uniqueness, status and luxury (“Design as Art”), but it also strives to be sustainable and address the needs and problems that afflict our society as a whole (“Conscious Design”).

The conference is curated by Robert Klanten of Gestalten, a publishing and consulting company with expertise in visual culture and trends.

The Symposium
The Future Forum kicks off with an opening by Claus Sendlinger, CEO of Design Hotels™, followed by a trend briefing from Christopher Sanderson and Martin Raymond of The Future Laboratory, a London-based trend research company.

Marije Vogelzang, a food concept designer from the Netherlands, will then convey her philosophy about food and design through an interactive presentation and tasting. In the afternoon, key speakers will give insight into new movements and concepts that are pushing the parameters of the design world. Among the speakers are:

- Stephen Burks, industrial designer, Readymade Projects, USA
- Friends With You, multi-disciplinary creative studio, USA
- Andrej Kupetz, German Design Council, Germany
- Jason Miller, multi-disciplinary designer, Miller Studio, USA
- Shonquis Moreno, design editor, Gestalten, USA/Germany
- Jerszy Seymour, experimental & conceptual design, Canada

A further highlight will be a cooking art happening by:
- The Foodists, a food performance company, Germany

Workshops & Laboratory
The final day of the event comprises Usability Workshops and a Design Trend Laboratory for member hotels. Design Hotels™ encourages synergies between hotels and partner brands and offers advice and inspiration through best practice examples. Highlights include joint presentations by selected hotels and the brands they’ve partnered with.
