The hotel management of Swissôtel Grand Shanghai, after successfully opened this outstanding property in spring this year, has been pronounced “China's Top Leaders TM ” in an evaluation organised by Corporate Research Foundation (CRF), a global organisation specialising in quality management and business best practice research projects.
Commenting on the achievement, John Pelling, Regional Vice President (China), Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts, said, “We are delighted that CRF, a leading and world-renowned organization, have recognized the management of Swissôtel Grand Shanghai as China's Top Leaders. As an international hotel brand, this is a tremendous honour as it reflects the efforts of this management team who each played a key role in the hotel’s opening, furthermore proves our brand’s focus on classic Swiss hospitality has a well deserved place in this highly competitive market.”
The Top Leaders TM Award has been running for 16 years by CRF in ten countries and now the Chinese mainland, with eight award winners selected out of 200 entrepreneures. The assessment was based on seven key criteria: management; strategy; market performance; finance; human resources; flexibility; corporate governance and social investment; and international orientation.
John continued, “Based on our due diligence of the on-demand market, we are bringing to China the Swiss hospitality of the highest standard. We are actively committed to providing the best solutions to meet customers’ evolving needs and the best working environment for the team members to advance their careers and enhance their potential and growth. Receiving this award is significant to our continuing development in China.”
The award was accepted on behalf of the hotel management by Roslyn Chan, Director of Revenue and Marketing, who was accompanied by John Pelling, Regional Vice President (China), Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts.
Other winners are Ma Yun, Chairman and CEO of Alibaba.com; John Wang, CEO of Amdocs China; Simon Ma, CEO of Camelot Information Systems; Tan Zhi, CEO of Focus Media; Edmond Ip, COO of InterContinental Hotels Group; Michael Drake, CEO of TNT China; and the management of PepsiCo China Foods.
The Swissôtel brand has 27 properties around the world, mostly in Europe, but with plans to expand in all parts of the world, some already under construction. In China, three properties, namely Foshan, Kunshan and Shanghai, have opened in the last six months, attesting to the group’s commitment of delivering the mainland’s domestic and international travellers fine Swiss hospitality. Warmth, efficiency and passion are key elements of the brand, coupled with a passion for offering a blend of local elements in the host culture.
