The Newly Restored St. Regis Beijing Opens in Anticipation of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT) proudly announces the debut of the newly renovated St. Regis Beijing, following the completion of a comprehensive, seven and a half-month, $27 million renovation and restoration of its 258 guest rooms, 102 luxuriously appointed suites, signature restaurants and public spaces. The St. Regis Beijing also features Danieli’s, one of Beijing’s finest Italian restaurants, a luxurious natural spring water spa, more than 13,114 square feet of meeting and event space and the iconic St. Regis Butler Service. For more than a decade, the award-winning St. Regis Beijing has offered global travelers an unrivaled dimension of luxury, sophistication and bespoke service at the heart of China’s bustling capital city.

“We are delighted with the newly renovated St. Regis Beijing. The hotel’s exceptional service, luxurious interiors and sheer beauty make it a perfect fit within the St. Regis brand, beautifully complementing a portfolio which includes The St. Regis Singapore and The St. Regis Shanghai, with several others under development in Bali, Bangkok, Jakarta, Lhasa, Kuala Lumpur, Macao, Osaka and Tianjin,” said Mr. Miguel Ko, President for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Asia Pacific.

Designed by New York-based Alexandra Champalimaud & Associates, the renovated property combines European style with distinct Chinese design influences to create a unique, luxurious and modern space. The lobby is both inviting and elegant, featuring hand-painted ceilings, pure silk embroidery and custom-made rosewood and lemonwood furnishings.Respecting the heritage of the orient, Feng Shui designs for the water features of the hotel’s newly landscaped gardens are visually integrated into the design for the renovated Garden Lounge and Garden Court restaurant. One of the most compelling new features of the hotel’s redesign is the Garden Court’s cantilevered natural stone patio, which extends out over a pool of water.

In addition to Garden Lounge and Garden Court, the hotel’s line-up of distinguished dining establishments includes Danieli’s, voted “Beijing’s Finest Italian Restaurant,” Astor Grill, Wine Lounge and Celestial Court, offering authentic cuisine from Southern China. The legendary St. Regis Bloody Mary and an enticing array of teas and signature cocktails are served daily in Garden Lounge, where guests can enjoy live entertainment throughout the evening. The Press Club Bar offers a lively, private club-style ambience reminiscent of a bygone era.

As part of the renovation, The St. Regis Beijing features 28 additional lavishly appointed St. Regis suites, bringing the total number of suites to 102, or 40 percent of its total room count. Overlooking the property’s tranquil gardens, the upgraded guest rooms and suites feature extraordinary furnishing including cherry wood armoires, Chinese silk upholstery, fine European tableware, flat-panel LCD televisions and spacious work desks. In addition, WiFi service is available to all guests, throughout the hotel.

The St. Regis Beijing houses The St. Regis Spa & Club, the first natural spring water spa in the city of Beijing. Since it opened in September of 2001, this urban sanctuary has featured exceptional services in a calm and exclusive setting. Drawing natural hot spring water from nearly 1,500 feet below the earth’s surface, this 21,480 square-foot facility provides guests with the ultimate spa experience. In its 10 revitalizing treatment rooms, professionally trained therapists deliver various styles of European, Western and Oriental massages, as well as traditional spa therapy treatments.

More than 13,114 square feet of meeting and event facilities are available at The St. Regis Beijing, named as one of the best choices for meeting planners in the capital city. Accommodating virtually any type of meeting, conference or social event, the hotel offers a variety of meeting rooms equipped with the latest technology offerings. In addition, the hotel’s elaborate gardens provide a unique and seductive setting for private functions.

The St. Regis Beijing features the famed hallmarks of the St. Regis brand including bespoke guest experiences and the iconic St. Regis Butler Service at one of the world’s best addresses. Trained in the English tradition, St. Regis butlers provide ever-present, yet unobtrusive service while anticipating guest needs and customizing each guest’s stay according to his or her specific tastes and preferences.

The St. Regis Beijing is located on Jianguomenwai Dajie in the heart of the city’s diplomatic district, near Beijing’s center for upscale shopping and business. Ideally located near Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, the hotel is within walking distance of the Silk Market, Ritan Park and the historic Beijing International Club, a well-known gathering spot for domestic and international government officials, foreign dignitaries, journalists and business executives.

As the brand’s first hotel in Asia Pacific, The St. Regis Beijing has enjoyed a proud legacy of accommodating Beijing’s most prominent guests ever since its debut in October of 1997. In its distinguished 10-year history, The St. Regis Beijing has received extraordinary and consistent recognition from a wide array of prominent global lifestyle and travel publications, including Condé Nast Traveler, Travel & Leisure, Institutional Investor, and Elite Traveler.
